Beginning of the school year with art - "Polish Summer. Duda-Gracz at Tichauer's"

Students of the Melchior Wańkowicz Private High School who study Polish, history and art history at an extended level started the school year with a visit to the Tichauer Gallery, where an extraordinary lesson on the history of contemporary painting was held, conducted by the curator of the exhibition. The exhibition of Jerzy Duda-Gracz's works, which includes 90 objects, is a private collection that is rarely open to the public. The author said about his work: "I paint what is in my soul; the older a person gets, the better he knows that he is leaving and the whole world is leaving with him. With the passage of time, tenderness and longing for what is irreversible arises." This quote perfectly captures the nostalgic, warm and humorous expression of the works that make up this unique exhibition. Professor Jerzy Dzierżysław Duda aka Gracz was called an "insightful satirist". His art reveals the world of "gloomy grotesque" - as Krzysztof Teodor Toeplitz described the artist's work. The creator was one of the most outstanding contemporary Polish portraitists.
