Geological encounter with the past
Did you know that if you compare the entire geological history of the Earth with the day and its 24 hours, the species Homo Sapiens would appear only a few seconds before midnight? Despite such a short time in which we function on Earth, we have managed, often irretrievably, to transform the environment in which we live. Students of class CP1 had the opportunity to learn about these and other interesting facts during geographical workshops at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia. It was an unusual opportunity for all of us to find ourselves in the "Tunnel of Time" and, using rocks and fossils, learn about the history of the earth. We could also see what the work of a real scientist looks like - a paleogeographer, i.e. a person whose job is to recreate what the world looked like in the past!
