Educational project

In the 2023/2024 school year, in the older classes of primary school, we will use the project-laboratory method in teaching biology. The method  focuses on the active participation of students in the learning process and the development of their practical skills.

The design method allows for:

  • Paying more attention to the individual needs of the student
  • Creative work on the topic, making students more interested in the topic of the lesson
  • Developing practical skills, as it largely focuses on the practical part of learning
  • Developing teamwork skills that are extremely important nowadays

Students have a chance to learn about biology in a way that engages them emotionally and allows them to understand how this knowledge is used in reality.

As part of the project method, students will be involved in a project related to a pro-health attitude, which will consist, among others, in creating a comic book promoting a healthy lifestyle. This work will develop creative skills as well as teach students how to effectively communicate important health issues.

In order to further develop their skills, students who are particularly interested in biology will have the opportunity to take part in additional classes preparing for the provincial biology competition. They will be conducted outside of school hours and will help students to improve their knowledge and skills.

At the end of the school year, we are planning a trip to the science center in Toruń, where students will have the opportunity to see how biological knowledge is used in practice and what are the possibilities of its use in industry, medicine or agriculture. We would like to emphasize that this method will not use the traditional form of tests and assessments.

Assessment of students will reflect their commitment and their own work, as well as the quality of work done in project classes.

The ratings will be based on several criteria such as:

  • Student's involvement in the learning process and willingness to participate in classes
  • Individual and group work
  • Practical skills, such as the ability to use laboratory instruments or the ability to analyze the results of experiments
  • The ability to effectively use the acquired knowledge in practice, for example in the creation of a comic book

The final grade will be the result of the student's year-round work as well as the final grade for the project.

Therefore, it will be the result of evaluating the student's work in terms of their involvement in the learning process and the laboratory.

We are convinced that the use of the project-laboratory method will bring many benefits to our students and will enable them to acquire biological knowledge more effectively.

We believe that thanks to this approach, our students will be more interested in biological topics, and will also have a chance to develop their teamwork and practical skills.

If you want your children to participate in modern education adapted to the changing reality, we invite you to our school, where all our subjects meet the expectations of parents and students.
